According to NFL sources, the Atlanta Falcons have acquired Pro Bowl Tight-end Tony Gonzalez form the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a second round draft pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.

With the addition of Gonzalez, the Falcons hope to boost their chances of returning to the playoff in 2009. Gonzalez caught 96 passes for 1,058 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2008. He owns NFL career records for tight ends with 916 receptions, 10,940 receiving yards, 76 receiving touchdowns and 26 100-yard receiving games.

The Chiefs are extremely happy with the deal as well, insisting they improved their chances for success next season by making
the deal.

As one of, if not the most popular athlete Kansas City has ever seen, it will be difficult for Gonzalez to leave.

"I love Kansas City," Gonzalez said. "The fans have been unbelievable to me. I'm going to miss them. This is a happy day for me, but in many ways, it's a sad day, too. I'm going to miss running out that tunnel and seeing that sea of red in those stands."

When the Chiefs drafted Gonzalez in the 1997 draft hes was just 21 years old.

"And now I'm leaving at 33," he said. " It's been a huge part of my life. When I retire, I'm going to retire a Chief. It's been a beautiful, beautiful ride in Kansas City. I'm not selling my home there."
