The Kansas City Chiefs have made another move to solidify their defense. According to reports, veteran linebacker Zach Thomas has agreed a one-year $2 million deal.

This marks the second, big-named, veteran linebacker the Chiefs have acquired in the off-season. Thomas will join former New England Patriot Mike Vrabel as part of Kansas City's revamped linebacking corps. So far, Chief general manager Scott Pioli has three potential starting linebackers Thomas, Vrabel and returning starter Derrick Johnson. He's also brought in backups Monty Beisel and Corey Mays.

On the roster, the Chiefs also have another potential starter
in Demorrio Williams, making Kansas City extremely deep at the position.

The 36 year old Thomas, started 14 of 16 games for the Dallas Cowboys in 2008 during his 13th NFL season, recording 94 tackles.

The move may have interesting draft ramifications as well.

Some experts have speculated that the Chief are seriously looking at former Wake Forest linebacker Aaron Curry with the third pick. Curry is surely versatile enough to play on the outside or in the middle, so don't count him completely out of Kansas City's plan for the future of their defense.

However, the Chiefs may now be looking to fill a more immediate need with the third overall pick.
