Pat Bowlen Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen sent a letter to season-ticket holders explaining why the organization felt they had to trade Pro Bowl quarterback Jay Cutler to the Chicago Bears.
In an email sent to fans, Bowlen stress the concept of team unity and the team's path back to a winning tradition, as well as reiterating that he and new coach Josh McDaniels had reached out many times to Cutler, but to no avail.
"I am writing this letter today because I feel compelled to give our community and our fans an explanation regarding the Jay Cutler situation," wrote Bowlen.
The Broncos owner stayed relatively quiet through most of the six-week long rift, between the team and Cutler. That is until the blockbuster trade with the Bears that brought Kyle Orton,
In the letter, Bowlen state that there would be no one player that would be bigger that the team.
"Understand this: it remains about team. Our franchise has gone to the Super Bowl six times, with three different coaches and with many different players. It has never been about one player, and it never will be. Coach McDaniels shares this vision, and everyone in the organization; players, coaches and staff must understand and accept this unconditionally. If anyone does not, that person will not be a part of this franchise."
Cutler ignored calls and texts from McDaniels and Bowlen, however, and the owner reached his breaking point Tuesday and told McDaniels and general manager Brian Xanders to try to trade Cutler.

My wife has been a Denver Bronco fan for 28 years. When she heard they traded Jay Cutler she swore it was the last time she would pay to see the Bronco’s play and put all of our Bronco stuff on E-bay.
I agree with pat bowlen, it is not about one player. It is also not about one coach. Mrs. bowlen felt that he had to back his new coach and sold the bronco’s down the drain. I for one do not want to watch “safe” football. Who wants to see a team that would rather throw the ball away and punt than take a risk at a turnover? I wish the Bronco’s well. Go Bears!!!! |

The Denver organization tries to trade Culter for McDaniel's boys and when it didn't happen they try to smooth it over by telling Culter he's our quarterback...you got what you deserved. I'm a Raider fan and I have a lot of respect for Culter's game. Thank you for your poor decision. Instead of dealing with Denver's 31st ranked defense they mess with the brightest side of the football...the offense!
