Some Packer Fans Miss Favre
Just as the discussions about Brett Favre seemed likely to subside to just a barrage of weekly updates from the New York Jets camp, a new issue has arisen to keep Favre right where he's positioned himself for the last month or more: in front of the bright lights and cameras, answering reporters' questions. This time, the myriad inquiries will involve his sloppy performances at practice, and the rumored cause of such, a fatigued throwing arm.

Favre acknowledged feeling his age after Wednesday's practice session, in which his timing was clearly off. He didn't appear alarmed, being sure to note that his arm was not sore, just tired. He said, "To be honest with you, I'm surprised that, I don't want to say I feel good, that I've been able to make it through every practice so far."

Favre is
expected to start Saturday's game against the Washington Redskins. The quarterback mentioned that he might have a discussion with Jets head coach Eric Mangini about limiting his number of throws in practice. He admitted he needed repetitions in his new offense and with his new teammates, and asserted that "...I know I need to study and I know I need to practice and I know how important it is. That doesn't mean I have to like it."

Favre has been a media hotpoint since announcing his return from a short-lived retirement, then basically forcing a trade from Green Bay when his return was not welcomed with open arms. After acquiring Favre, the Jets released former starting quarterback Chad Pennington. Laveranues Coles, the Jets' best receiver and Pennington's best friend on the team, has not spoken to reporters since the trade.
