Lions Are On The Clock In the NFL, the one consolation prize for a dismal season is the number one pick in the up-coming draft. This past season the Detroit Lions made history by becoming the first team in history to go 0-16. The big question now is, who will the Lions take with the first pick?
The Lions have hosted visits with three prospective top picks. Georgia QB Matthew Stafford, former Baylor OT Jason Smith, and former Wake Forest LB Aaron Curry have all visited Motown in recent weeks. Also, former Boston College DT B.J. Raji is expected to head to Detroit next.
It is true that Stafford is the player many experts think will land in Detroit with the Lions. However, General Manager Martin Mayhew has been exploring many options.
In fact, rumors are now swirling that the Lions are looking to make a deal with the
Broncos coach Josh McDaniels is apparently waiting for Cutler to call him so they can try to work things out, while Cutler is at his home in Nashville wait for news that he has been traded.
In any case, if the Lions were to land the 25 year old Cutler, he would immediately become the face of the franchise. Obviously, after the season the Lions had in 2008, they need all the help they can get, Cutler would not be a bad start. After all, Detroit does has the 1st, 20th and the 33rd overall picks in their pocket.
The only thing that is for certain, is that no decision has been made by either side.
