According to reports out of the Big Apple, free agent linebacker Bart Scott has agreed to terms on a six-year contract with the New York Jets. The deal is believed to be worth $48 million over 6 years, but the last year is an option year. It did not take long for Scott to reunite with his former defensive coordinator Rex Ryan.

Just one year after a stunning shopping spree that included big payouts but, no playoffs, the Jets are at it again. They waisted no time in locking up the Pro Bowl backer.

Scott was originally signed by the Baltimore Ravens as a rookie free agent in April of 2002. Scott saw most of his playing time in his first few years on special teams. Then in 2005, because of a hamstring injury to Ray Lewis, Scott saw significant playing time at
linebacker. In his first year as a starter, 2006, Scott was second on the team in tackles with 135 and was elected to the Pro Bowl.

Jets fans should expect another active free agency for New York. The Jets still have several holes to fill; safety, cornerback and now wide receiver with the release of Laveranues Coles.

Earlier in the day, left guard Chris Kemoeatu turned down an offer from the New York Jets and re-signed Pittsburgh Steelers. In turn New York re-signed Brandon Moore to a four-year, $16 million contract, including $10 million in guarantees. Keeping Moore around, keeps the Jets line from a year ago in tact.

Some other big names changing teams today include Albert Haynesworth finding a new home in Washington and Pro Bowl tight end Kellen Winslow was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
