Brett Favre To Retire
Brett Favre To Retire
The wait is over for the New York Jets. According to ESPN, Brett Favre has instructed his agent to tell the Jets of his decision to retire from the NFL. Apparently, Favre sent an email to an ESPN reporter detailing his plans to officially end his career.

It was just 11 short months ago that the three-time league MVP announced his retirement from the Packers in an emotional ceremony, in Green Bay.

No tears this time, just an email to ESPN's Ed Werder. Favre said that he had no regrets about finishing his career with the Jets rather than the Packers. He praised the organization for giving him a chance and singled out Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum, team owner Woody Johnson as well as fired coach Eric Mangini.

"Mike and Woody, as well as the entire organization, have been nothing short of outstanding," Favre said
in the e-mail. "Eric could not have been any better. I enjoyed playing for him. My time with the Jets was short, but I'm honored to be given that chance."

Favre even mentioned Thomas Jones and Kerry Rhodes, both players publicly criticized the 39 year-old quarterback after the teams late season collapse.

"My teammates," Favre said. "Thomas and Kerry included, were a pleasure to play with."

Early this week, New York expressed publicly that they had hoped to have Favre's decision before the NFL Combine on February 18th. New York has already begun discussing their options at quarterback, they spent some time on Tuesday studying the 2009 class of draft-eligible college quarterbacks.

Right now the Jets would have to consider Kellen Clemens their starter, however the team has some doubts about on whether of not the former second-round pick is capable of being Favre's replacement.
