Maybe the New York Jets front office should make a call to Green Bay to get some advice.

The Jets are in the same position the Packers were in the last several years and it's not comfortable. They are waiting for Brett Favre to tell them what he's doing. They are are hoping that they'll have a decision from Favre within the next ten days. General manager Mike Tannenbaum told a New York newspaper that the team would like a answer from their quarterback before the NFL Combine on February 18th.

"We're putting together our off-season plan," Tannenbaum told the Daily News. "We hope to have initial feedback from Brett by the combine."

Favre, 39, was acquired
from the Packers prior to the 2008 season for a conditional draft pick. The future Hall of Fame quarterback has two years remaining on his contract, a deal he signed with the Packers.

Favre and the Jets got off to an 8-3 start in the 2008 season but, New York finished the season 9-7 after losses in four of their last five games, and missed the playoffs.

The Jets signal caller finished the 2008 season with 3,472 passing yards with 22 touchdowns and 22 interceptions, and he was selected to his 10th Pro Bowl, though he withdrew due to injury.

The Jets late season collapse sent ripples throughout the organization, leading to the firing of coach Eric Mangini and the subsequent hiring of Rex Ryan.
