Brett Favre Now that the pain of being past over for the head coaching position has subsided and Brian Schottenheimer has decided to stay on as New York Jets offensive coordinator he is trying to unify his offense.
"At the end of the day, after the smoke cleared," said Schottenheimer. "I really did feel this was the best place for me."
In New York, with Schottenheimer's offense there is one big question heading into next season. What will Brett Favre decide to do?
Favre is contemplating whether to retire or come back for a 19th NFL season and a second with New York. He's expected to make a decision in the next few weeks.
Schottenheimer spoke with reporters Tuesday via conference call for the first time
"I really enjoyed coaching Brett, I really did," he said. "I really enjoyed being around him, I enjoyed working with him. We had a heck of a relationship, and I don't think anything would change if he does decide to come back again this season."
Schottenheimer did acknowledge the difficulty in Favre coming late to training camp last August, while reminding reporters that there was little criticism of Favre or the offense when the Jets were 8-3. Schottenheimer said he had not spoken to Favre since the season ended.
"He's probably in a tree stand right now as we speak doing some hunting," Schottenheimer said with a chuckle.
