New York Jets
Now that the dust has settled and Brett Favre has began to practice with his new team, sports books are giving the New York Jets about 5/1 odds to win the AFC East and 10/1 to win the Super Bowl. Vegas will be paying out $525 for every $100 bet if Gang Green can take home a division title. The Jets opened camp at 15/1, however, after the acquisition of the future hall of famer, prices have been slashed.

The new look 2008 Jets offence with Favre at the helm should be a definite upgrade from what NFL fans saw in 2007. Along with Favre the offensive will be boosted by the signing of free agents Alan Faneca, Damien Woody at the guard positions as well as the addition of veteran pro-bowl fullback Tony Richardson. Richardson should bring a new dimension in short yardage situations and help lead the way for starting tailback Thomas Jones.

On defense the 2007
Jets didn't scare opposing offenses, in fact they were awful. They relinquished over 22 points and almost 135 yards rushing per game. The front four did not get to the quarterback either, they recorded just 29 sacks during the 4-12 campaign. In the off-season the Jets added defensive ends Calvin Pace from the Arizona Cardinals and Ohio State's Vernon Ghoulston with the sixth over all pick in the draft. Pace and Ghoulston should add much needed speed to a bewildered defense that needs all the help it can get.

Let's face it, no one thinks the Jets have any real chance to over take the betting favorite New England Patriots for the division, they come in at a 7/2 favorite to win in the Super Bowl. The Pats have been and continue to be an NFL powerhouse with no signs of slowing down. The Jets have their work cut out for them. However, with the multitude of changes from 2007, the 2008 Jets are a definite Playoff contender.
