Injury Issues The Denver Broncos are one of those teams this year that analysts are having a hard time figuring out. They do not appear to be among the elite in the AFC, but one never knows what coach Mike Shanahan has up his sleeve.
Injuries are making it a little bit easier for the critics to write off Denver's playoff chances. Coming into the first preseason game, the Broncos were without the services of some key players.
Cornerback Champ Bailey, safety Hamza Abdullah, defensive tackle Dewayne Robertson, and center Mike Nalen, all did not play in the opener for various injury reasons. Denver also lost both their starting linebacker Boss Bailey and his backup Louis Green
The injuries will push Shanahan back to the drawing board. To compensate for the linebacker injuries, Shanahan may have to juggle some of his linebackers and their current positions.
In a conference that already is loaded with talent, the Broncos can not afford to be without some star players for any length of time. The depth is simply not there with the NFL reducing roster limits.
The Patriots, Colts, Jaguars, and Steelers appear once again headed towards the playoffs. The Chargers, from Denver's division, might be the best of all of those teams. That leaves the Broncos searching for answers, answers that must come quick if they plan on competing for a playoff spot.
