Steelers' safety Troy Polamalu injured a calf before Sunday's Divisional round playoff victory over the San Diego Chargers and will go through only light works during the first part of the week. He is expected to play in this Sunday's AFC Championship game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Against the Chargers, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin was not even certain if his All-Pro safety could play until Polamalu ran onto the field for the first defensive series.

Polamalu made it through the first series, then the second, and ended up playing the entire game as the won 35-24. The Steelers six year veteran may have toughed it out through four quarters, however he was limited to just three tackles.

Pittsburgh
did not disclose Polamalu's injury until coach Tomlin's weekly news conference on Tuesday.

"We're at the point of the season where it's about getting ready to play and being at the very best you can be on game day," Tomlin said. "If that means sacrificing a little physical preparation for him, we're willing to do that."

Polamalu was just named to his fifth straight Pro-Bowl last week. He finished fourth on the Steelers in tackles. Polamalu was also first on his team and tied for second in the league in interceptions with 7.

The Steelers also announced that center Justin Hartwig injured a knee during the second quarter of the San Diego game. He finished the game wearing a brace. Hartwig will be limited in practice, but is expected to play on Sunday.
