Baltimore Ravens Saturday afternoon in Nashville, look for not much more than an old fashion street brawl as two of the league's most physical teams match-up in the divisional round of the AFC Playoffs. Odds makers are calling Tennessee home favorites against the visiting Baltimore Ravens. NFL betting lines have the Titans at -3 with the total in the game sitting at 34.
After a 5-11 season a year ago, why are the Ravens even here this week? The Ravens are one of the league's best turn around teams in 2008.
It starts with Ed Reed and Ray Lewis being difference makers on as a good defense as they have had in years. On offense, Joe Flacco is in at QB and the one two punch of Willis McGahee sharing carries with Le'Ron McClain has spelled success this season. Not to mention, rookie head coach John Harbaugh has his Ravens protecting the ball and finding ways
Speaking of finding a way to win, the Titans have won a lot of close games, enough of them to get them the number one seed in the AFC.
Lendale White and Chris Johnson have been Tennessee's dynamic duo on the ground this year. The Titans are seventh in the NFL this season, rushing for almost 140 yards per game. However, Tennessee will be without their Pro-Bowl center Kevin Mawae and this will be a big hit to their offense.
The Titans will be looking to get ahead and stay ahead. Quarterback Kerry Collins has been excellent, but he can't carry the team. If Tennessee falls behind, they could be in trouble.
This game will be decided on the ground. Whichever defense can control the line of scrimmage and shut down the run game will come out on top.
It's hard not to trust Ray Lewis and Ed Reed not to do what they have to do to win. Take the Ravens getting the 3 points.
