The Carolina Panthers have had a history of having a poor season followed by an above average one. The only problem with that theory coming into this year is that they have had two straight bad seasons.

Their quarterback, Jake Delhomme, is coming off an injury filled season and appears ready to once again take over the Panthers offense. He has shown flashes of greatness in his career, but has been unable to sustain them.

He had surgery on his elbow and is now fully recovered. He will be under center when the team takes on Indianapolis in their first preseason game on Saturday
night. "I have no apprehension at all. I don't know if I'm being naive, but I don't feel that way," said Delhomme.

Although Delhomme will get the start on Saturday, don't expect to get a full read on whether he is once again healthy. He will most likely only play one or two series', which is the case with most starters in the first game of the preseason.

"This is my twelfth NFL camp and I'm not going to twelve more. I enjoy it. I like the guys on this team and I like the coaches. I think most of the guys as they get older tend to enjoy it because you realize how blessed you are to play this game," he said.
