According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, sources say that Boston College coach Jeff Jagodzinski has been told he will be fired if he interviews for the head-coaching vacancy with the New York Jets.

Despite the threat from athletic director Gene DeFilippo, Jagodzinski does indeed plan to do the interview with the Jets on Monday, the sources said. Those sources also say that if Jagodzinski is fired, the Eagles would promote offensive coordinator Steve Logan to head coach.

The 45 year old Jagodzinski has been the BC head man for the past two seasons going 20-8 overall, including a Champs Sports Bowl victory over Michigan State a year ago.

Before landing the Boston College job, Jagodzinski was an NFL assistant since 1999. He was with the Packers serving as tight ends coach for three seasons. Jagodzinski then spent another three season with the Atlanta Falcons.

Before departing the NFL for the college ranks at Boston College, Jagodzinski spent the 2006 season as offensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers.

BC spokesman Chris Cameron told ESPN that the school would have no comment. However, another BC source said Jagodzinski informed his coaching staff of the development this weekend.

New york did not have a reaction nor confirm if they are interested in the Boston College coach.
