Favre Traded to Jets
Favre Traded to Jets
Brett Favre will be suiting up in a different shade of green in 2008. In what was thought to be an extreme long shot, the New York Jets have landed future Hall of Fame Quarterback Brett Favre. According to sources inside both Jets and Packers camps, Brett Favre has been traded to the New York Jets.

The saga that began over a month ago has finally come to a close with what is believed to be a single conditional draft pick to the Packers for the 38 year old Favre.

In a statement released by Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum, Quarterback Chad Pennington will be traded or released as early as Thursday. This move will help the Jets free up room under the cap to fit Favre's salary.

Most sources believed Favre would likely end up in Tampa Bay,
however the Jets were seemingly more aggressive then the Bucs in their pursuit of the veteran quarterback. The Favre sweepstakes likely ended up in New York's favor due to there willingness to part with a higher draft pick as well as Green Bay's apparent reluctance to deal Favre to a team in their conference. With Favre going to New York the possibility of the Packers meeting him in the playoffs is extremely removed.

With the acquisition of Favre this makes the Jets an instant payoff contender. Favre is the holder of almost every significant passing record in NFL history and is coming off one of the best seasons of his storied career. The big question is if the Jets offensive line can protect Brett long enough for him to work any of the magic that fans have become accustomed to.
