Kansas Jayhawks
Kansas Jayhawks
Wednesday in the Insight Bowl the Kansas Jayhawks take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Odds makers are calling Kansas more than a touchdown favorite against the Gophers. NCAA betting lines have the Jayhawks at -8.5 with the total in the contest sitting at 60.

Kansas is coming this one flying high after a 40-37 win over Missouri in the regular season finale, but the Jayhawks struggled down the stretch losing four of their final six. Quarterback Todd Reesing threw for almost 3,600 yards and 28 touchdowns. Reesing has put up some startling numbers, but he has been overlooked through most of the season playing in the Big 12 with Heisman winner Sam Bradford and runner-up Colt McCoy.

Reesing is among the national leaders in completions (seventh at 25.17 per game), passing yards (eighth at 297.2 yards per game) and total offense (ninth at
313.4 yards per game).

"Todd Reesing is as good a quarterback as there is in the country," said Minnesota coach Tim Brewster. "He does a great job with his feet. He is extremely dangerous."

The Golden Gophers stumbled to a 1-11 record last year in coach Brewster's first season. Two years ago, Minnesota led Texas Tech 38-7 in the Insight Bowl midway through the third quarter only to watch the Red Raiders rally for a 44-41 overtime victory.

Now Minnesota returns to the scene of its collapse and they don't want to relive history.

"We do have a lot of players that were part of that football team," said Brewster. "It was very disappointing to finish like it finished. But we can't control what happened two years ago."

The Golden Gophers will be fired up enough to keep this one close, Kansas should win, but 8.5 points is a lot to give.

Take Minnesota getting the points.
