Oregon State Beavers In Wednesday afternoon's Sun Bowl in El Paso, the Oregon State Beavers take on the Pittsburgh Panthers as Pitt looks for their first 10-win season since quarterback Dan Marino led the way to an 11-1 record in 1981.
Odds maker are calling the Beavers favorites in the 75th annual Sun Bowl. NCAA betting lines have Oregon State at -2.5 with the total sitting at 52.5.
Oregon State has had an inconsistent, up and down year, losing to teams like Stanford and beating USC. The Beavers are lead by quarterback Lyle Moevao and running back Jacquizz Rodgers.
Rodgers has run for more than 1,200 yards and eleven touchdowns and Moevao has thrown for 2,341 yards and nineteen touchdowns. Jacquizz's brother James has also shinned on offense compiling over 1,000 total yards from scrimmage and 9 touchdowns.
The
The Panthers will have their star running back, LeSean McCoy. The sophomore out of Harrisburg, PA has rushed for 1,403 yard and 21 touchdowns. McCoy is drawing comparisons to some great backs. However, according to Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt he is his own man.
"He has a little bit of what Ricky Williams does. He has a little bit of Tony Dorsett, who I played with," said Wannstedt. "He has a little bit of Emmitt Smith, and Rashaan Salaam, another Heisman Trophy winner."
There is some good talent on both teams in this one and should be a close game. Take Pittsburg getting the 2.5 points they should be able to wear down the Beavers with their strong rushing attack.
