Scarlet Knights Monday afternoon in the PapaJohns.com Bowl, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights will face the North Carolina State Wolfpack in a Big East vs ACC battle. Odds makers are calling the 7-5 Scarlet Knights favorites over the 6-6 Wolfpack. NCAA betting lines have Rutgers at -6.5 with the total sitting at 55.
The Scarlet Knights are one of the hottest team in college football. After starting 1-5 and off to a dismal season, Rutgers fans had no thoughts of reaching a bowl game. Since mid-October, the Scarlet Knights have rattled off 6 straight wins, including a 54-34 win against then-ranked 17th Pittsburgh.
"To be playing football after game 12 is a great achievement anytime," said Rutgers coach Greg Schiano. "Especially the way this season started."
Rutgers resurgence has come in no small part to the play of quarterback Mike Teel. After a slow
In the season finale against Louisville, Teel passed for a school record 447 yards and seven touchdowns in the 63-14 victory.
"Mike Teel is an incredible competitor," Schiano said. "I think he had a tough start to the season, as we all did here at Rutgers, but I think Mike's perseverance and his toughness showed through."
It has been a similar kind of season for the Wolfpack. After starting 2-6, NC State has won four in a row, including victories against Wake Forest and in-state rival North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
North Carolina State has averaged almost 32 points per game during its season ending four-game winning streak while Rutgers has scored 30 or more points in five straight games. This one has all the makings of being a shootout.
Take the over 55 points in this one.
