San Diego Chargers It is a very simple playoff equation in San Diego on Sunday night as the Chargers host the Denver Broncos. Win and you are in the postseason with the AFC West Division title. Odds makers are calling the surging Chargers home favorites in this do or die game. NFL betting lines have San Diego at -7 with the total in the game 49.5.
These two might as well consider this the first round of the playoffs as the 7-8 Chargers host the 8-7 Broncos. With the Chargers holding the tie-breaker, the winner of this game will represent the AFC West in the postseason.
To get to this point the Chargers have won three straight while the Broncos have lost two in a row to let San Diego back in the race. The Chargers have done it riding on the arm of quarterback Philip Rivers. Last week in Tampa Bay, the NFL top rated
"I can't say enough about our guys in terms of the way they've handled the last month," said Chargers coach Norv Turner. "The way they prepared, the way they competed."
San Diego running back LaDainian Tomlinson also had a solid game against a very good Bucs run defense. Tomlinson ran for 90 yards on 21 carries to join Barry Sanders and Curtis Martin as the only players in NFL history to run for 1,000 in each of their first eight seasons.
"I think we are playing like a playoff team," said Tomlinson. "Hopefully it's not too late."
With the way the Chargers have been playing, there is a good chance that it is not too late. These are two teams moving in different directions.
