Sunday afternoon in Buffalo the New England Patriots look to keep their playoff hopes alive against the Bills. Odds makers are calling New England a road favorite in this must-win for the Pats. NFL betting lines have New England at -6 with the total in the game sitting at 40.

For the Patriots they can clinch the AFC East title with a win or tie against the Bills and Miami Dolphins loss or tie to the New York Jets. Also, New England will clinch a wild-card spot with a win or tie and Baltimore loss. A loss will eliminate the Patriots from any play-off contention.

If the Patriots win and neither scenario plays out, they will join the 1985 Denver Broncos as the only 11-5 teams to miss the playoffs in NFL history.

As for the game itself, the Patriots have made a living beating up on the Bills. New England has won 10 straight and
15 of their last 16 against Buffalo, outscoring the Bills 150-40 in their last four visits to Ralph Wilson Stadium. Quarterback Matt Cassel is coming off one of his most impressive performances as a pro, Cassel threw for 345 yards and three touchdowns in a sloppy mess in Foxboro.

The Patriots signal caller had a passer rating 116.1 in the 47-7 victory.

Last week against the Broncos, the Bills got a solid performance from their quarterback as well. Trent Edwards returned to the line-up after missing two games with a groin problem. Edwards threw for 193 yards and one touchdown in the Bills 30-23 victory over Denver.

The Bills may have played spoiler a week ago against the Broncos, but they might not be able to do the same this week. However, with Edwards back under center and playing with some confidence, they will keep it close.

Take the Bills getting the 6 points at home.
