Miami Dolphins
Miami Dolphins
Sunday afternoon, the AFC East Division title is on the line as the Miami Dolphins face the New York Jets in this week 17 match-up. Odds makers are calling the struggling Jets home favorites against the red hot Dolphins. NFL betting lines have New York at -2.5 with the total in the game sitting at 42.5.

For the Miami Dolphins it's simple, win against the Jets on Sunday and take the AFC East Division crown. They can also win the division with a tie and a New England loss or tie. That's a little crazy, but not so far-fetched, just ask Donovan McNabb. They can also clinch a playoff spot with a tie and a Baltimore loss to Jacksonville.

As for the New York Jets, it gets a little more complicated. They need a win against Miami and help to have any chance at a playoff spot. With a win against the Dolphins and a New England loss to Buffalo the Jets would take the division title. Another
scenario would give the Jets a spot with a wild-card if the Ravens lose to Jacksonville and they beat the Dolphins.

When the season began, no one would have thought Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington would have Miami in this position. Over his eight seasons in the Big Apple (six as the starter), the former Jets signal caller led New York to the playoffs in 2002, 2004 and 2006 before being cut to make room for Brett Favre.

"This is the only way fate would have it, right?" said Pennington. "I just don't think it would happen any other way. There wouldn't be any other scenario. This is how sports works."

These are two teams moving in different directions. Since handing the Titans their first loss back in week 12, the Jets have lost three out of four and need a miracle to get into the post season. The Dolphins are the hottest team in the league winning eight of their last nine.

Take the Dolphins getting the 2 points in New York.
