Miami Hurricanes
Saturday night in the Emerald Bowl at AT&T Park in San Francisco the Miami Hurricanes take on the California Golden Bears as the Canes look to snap a two game skid. Odds makers are not giving Miami much of a chance as the Golden Bears are double digit favorites in a contest that will be much like a home game for California. NCAA betting lines have the Bears at -10 with the total sitting at 50.5.

California is led on offense by featured tailback Jahvid Best. The sophomore out of Vallejo, CA has rushed for just under 1,400 yards and 13 touchdowns. As a team Cal has pounded out over 2,200 yards in 2008.

If Miami can stop the run, they should be able to keep it close and maybe steal a victory.

"I watch football late at night, and I see a lot of Pac-10 games," said Hurricanes coach Randy Shannon. "We know about Cal. They're a very run-oriented
team, but they can take shots downfield as well. There's going to be a lot of speed on both sides, but you'll also see two tough teams. I know it's going to be a great TV game, that's for sure."

Miami and California have not played since the 2002 Rose Bowl. A Miami victory in that one capped the Hurricanes national championship run in the 2001 season. The Canes came in with players like Clinton Portis, Jeremy Shockey, and Ed Reed to name a few.

"They signify college football, basically," said Cal linebacker Zack Follett. "I remember when they won that championship, I had my Miami sweat shirt on. I'm sure every kid did at that time, even out here in California. They're just cool."

Today's Hurricanes are a different team. Miami should be able to run with the Bears for a while, but California will take control in the fourth quarter and win this one going away.

Take Cal and give the 10 points.
