Wednesday night in the Hawaii Bowl the Notre Dame Fighting look to snap their nine bowl game losing stretch as they face-off with the Hawaii Warriors. Odds makers are calling the Irish slight favorites in Aloha Stadium. NCAA betting lines have Notre Dame at -2 with the total sitting at 49.

For the Fighting Irish, their last bowl victory came in the 1993 Cotton Bowl against Texas A&M. Fifteen years and nine losses later Irish coach Charlie Weis needs a victory to have a merry Christmas and a winning record.

"When I'm sitting here on Christmas Eve after the game with my wife and kid, waiting for Santa and the sleigh to pull up, I want to have a smile on my face," Weis said. "And I won't be the happiest camper if it goes the other way."

Notre
Dame also is trying avoid back-to-back losing seasons for just the third time their 120 seasons.

The Warriors will be trying to show the country that they can compete with big name schools. They will be focusing on themselves and not Notre Dame's recent bowl drought.

"It's about us," said linebacker Solomon Elimimian. "It's about this season. It's about what we're trying to accomplish here. It's about us being a great team on national TV. This is our opportunity to show the world what UH football is all about."

For the fifth time in seven years, the Warriors will participate in the Hawaii Bowl, including three victories. This is, for intensive purposes, a home game for Hawaii. They will be focused and play well.

Take the Warriors getting the 2 points.
