Fantasy Football Trends
In the past, the common outline of drafting a fantasy football team were predicated on two main themes, draft your kicker late, and pick running backs early and often. That trend could change this year. Fantasy owners are now looking towards a more balanced team.

With growing trend in the NFL the last few years leaning towards a two headed rushing attack, pure rushers are just not scoring as many points as they used to in fantasy leagues.

While running backs like LaDainian Tomlinson and Brian Westbrook are still fantasy studs and are must have first rounders, the overall concept in the NFL has moved more towards running back by committee.

In most leagues this upcoming year, quarterbacks, such as Tom Brady and Peyton Manning should and will be taken in the first round. These are low risk picks that will deliver high dividends in most fantasy leagues.

With these two proven
winners, owners might not even have to pick a back-up. If healthy, Manning and Brady will carry even the worst of fantasy rosters.

The big question for fantasy owners this year is what to do in the early middle rounds. Each owner will make their own predictions, but the decisions they make will only be justified based on player performance.

In prior years, owners would be exhausting the running back market. This year, taking the best available player is going to be the smart move. Quarterbacks with high upsides such as Tony Romo or Drew Brees could be strong picks in rounds two or three. Even a stud receiver is not a bad option in these rounds.

The key question to be answered by this year's owners will be how to deal with the increasing trend in the NFL to move towards a running back by committee approach. Focusing on other positions could be the answer. Either that, or getting lucky and receiving the number one pick that is reserved for LT.
