Baltimore Ravens Sunday night in prime time, the Washington Redskins head about forty miles from home to take on the neighboring Ravens in Baltimore. Odds makers are calling Baltimore home favorites. NFL betting odds have the Ravens at -6.5 with the total sitting at 35.
This should be an extremely competitive contest between two clubs who seem to be moving in different directions. The Redskins have lost three of their past four games, while the Ravens have won six of their last seven. However, with Washington at 7-5 and the Ravens at 8-4, they both are in the thick of the playoff hunt.
Baltimore is in this position entering the last month of the season is largely due to their success against teams they've been expected to beat. The Ravens are 6-0 against teams with losing records, including a combined 4-0 against division rivals Cleveland
"Our guys have earned the right to be playing meaningful football games in December," said coach John Harbaugh, one day after the Ravens routed the Bengals 34-3 in Cincinnati. "That's all we care about."
Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell received much praise when he posting three straight games with a 100-plus passer rating as part of Washington's 4-1 start. Now Campbell is the focus of criticism after throwing only four touchdown passes in his last seven games.
"We started out so fast," Campbell said. "We got on such a streak that we were scoring so fast that expectations and everything on our team went through the roof, and people forgot we were still in this thing in its first year."
It is not going to get any easier this week against Ray Lewis and the Ravens defense. Look for Washington to continue to slide. Take Baltimore and give the 3.5 points.
