Saturday afternoon the Florida Gators and the Alabama Crimson Tide face-off in the Georgia Dome for the SEC Championship and a ticket straight to the BCS title game. Odds makers are calling the Gators double digit favorites in Atlanta. NCAA betting lines have Florida at -10 with the total sitting at 52.
At 12-0 the Crimson Tide comes in as heavy underdogs even though they have remained unbeaten thus far.
"We still haven't lost yet," the junior linebacker Cory Reamer said. "They are winning a certain way and we're winning games, too. A win is a win, as pretty or ugly as it might be. We would like it to be as pretty as possible, but a win is a win."
When Alabama and Florida face-off on Saturday in what is essentially a national semifinal, the winner will most certainly advance to the BCS Title game in Miami January 8.
Sports books have been playing into the perception that Florida is the best team in the nation. The fact of the matter is that the Crimson Tide is not unbeaten by accident. Alabama has allowed a mere 11.5 points per game and is only surrendering 73.6 yards a game on the ground. The Tide defense should keep this one close.
Florida's high powered offense has looked unstoppable lately. Quarterback Tim Tebow has shown in 2008 that he can manage games find his playmakers as well as take over games himself. However, the Gators may be without one of those dynamic playmakers.
Last week against the Seminoles, Percy Harvin sprained his right ankle. If Harvin can't go or is limited, this will be a big blow to the Gators offense.
Alabama's strong defense will keep them in the game throughout. Take the Tide getting the 10 points.
