With their dominating win over the Red Raiders on Saturday night in Norman, the Oklahoma Sooners make a compelling case to be playing for the national title in Miami.
However, it would be Texas, the team that handed OU their only loss of the season that would be playing in the BCS championship game against No. 1 Alabama if the season ended today.
After Texas Tech's 65-21 loss, Big 12 rival Texas took over the No. 2 spot in this week's BCS standings with the Sooners looming right behind in the No. 3 spot.
Meanwhile, the Florida Gators stayed put at No. 4 even after their glorified scrimmage with The Citadel in Gainesville.
The USC Trojans and the Utah Utes each moved up a spot from last week and now sit at 5 and 6.
Texas Tech, on the other hand, dropped to No. 7, one spot ahead of Penn State. The Nittany Lions clinched a Rose Bowl berth Saturday with a win over Big Ten rival Michigan State, but failed to move up in this week's standings.
At 11-0, Boise State, with its 41-34 win over Nevada also remained right where they are the No. 9 spot, a position that would still not earn the Broncos a BCS bowl bid if they are there when the final BCS standings are announced on Dec 7.
While the Big 12 could have two teams in BCS bowls in January, the Big Ten also could have two teams in the BCS equation when the regular season concludes, as Ohio State remained at No. 10 this week with its blowout victory over traditional rival Michigan.
Out of the Mountain West Conference, TCU will still need outside help after moving up to No. 14 this week after their win over Air Force, and MAC representative Ball State, which rallied in the fourth quarter to beat Central Michigan on Wednesday, climbed two spots to No. 15.
