New York Jets Sunday afternoon the New York Jets head down to Nashville to take on the unbeaten Tennessee Titans in a battle of two of the AFC's best. The Jets are riding high, coming off an impressive win against the New England Patriots last Thursday in Foxboro. The Titans have all but locked up the AFC South and now look to wrap up home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
Odds makers say that the Titans, at 10-0, are home favorites in what looks to one of their toughest match-up of the season. NFL betting lines have Tennessee at -5.5 with the total sitting at 41.
The Jets are 7-3, winners of four in a row and six of their last seven. New York has been doing it all over the field. Quarterback Brett Favre has thrown for 2,237 yards and 18 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, but he has only thrown one in the last three games. Running back Thomas Jones is averaging 4.5 yards per carry and leads the AFC in rushing
On the other side of the ball the Jets defense, lead by nose tackle Kris Jenkins, is fourth in the NFL against the rush, allowing just 81.3 yards on the ground per game. New York has also been able to get at the quarterback. The Jets are second in the AFC in sacks with 34, only Pittsburgh is better with 37.
The Titans have looked very good in all aspects of the game. Most importantly, coach Jeff Fisher, is impressed with the play of his veteran quarterback Kerry Collins. He has been able to win games every way he has been asked to. Collins has been able to manage games perfectly that the Titans have been able to control on the ground. Also, the Titans signal caller has been able to carry his team on his back and win games with his arm.
This game has all the makings of being an instant classic. The Titans might very well win this game and improve to 11-0, but it will be close. Take the Jets getting 5.5 points, this one will be decided by a field goal.
