The Michigan State Spartans head to Happy Valley to take on the Penn State Nittany Lions in what many believe could be legendary coach Joe Paterno last game at Beaver Stadium. Odds makers are calling the Lions double digit favorites at home. College football betting lines have Penn State as -15.5 with the total sitting at 48.

Paterno's contract expires at the end of this season. He is major college football's all-time winningest coach with 382 career wins and turns 82 next month.

"Come to the game and enjoy it. It's a big football game," said Paterno. "If we win, a lot of good things can happen to us. But I don't think fans should be coming because they think it's my last game."

With Penn State's hopes of playing in the BCS championship game almost certainly spoiled after their 24-23 loss at Iowa on Nov. 8, the Lions, at 10-1 overall and 6-1 in the Big 10 can clinch a spot in the Rose Bowl with a victory over Michigan State this weekend.

Penn State, Ohio State and Michigan State all have identical Big Ten records, but having already beaten the Buckeyes, the Nittany Lions would clinch the conference's automatic BCS bid with a win on Saturday.

Being 9-2 overall and 6-1 in the conference, the Spartans would need a win over Penn State and Michigan to upset Ohio State to advance to their first trip to Pasadena since 1988.

"We have an opportunity to do something that hasn't been done here in 18 years," said Spartans coach Mark Dantonio. "That's a lifetime for a lot of people."

There will be a lot of emotion in this one, on both sides. Penn State wins, but the Spartans will make it closer than most think. Take Michigan State getting 15.5.
