Atlanta Falcons Sunday afternoon the Denver Broncos travel to the Georgia Dome in Atlanta to take on the Falcons. Odds makers are calling the Falcons a home favorite as they get set to do battle with the Broncos. NFL betting lines have Atlanta at -6.5 with the total sitting at 51.
With rookie quarterback Matt Ryan already surpassing the Falcons expectations Atlanta looks to make a push to the playoffs. At 6-3, Atlanta is off to their best nine-game start since last reaching the post-season in 2004.
A week ago, in the Falcons home win against New Orleans, Ryan was 16-of-23 for 248 yards and two touchdowns in the 34-20 victory.
Atlanta's signal caller's success can be credited to his team excellent ground game. Running back Michael Turner has rushed for almost 900 yards and 7 touchdowns in the first nine games. As a team,
The Falcons defense also has played well. Although they gave up a season high 521 yards against the Saints, they were able to limit New Orleans to just 6 points through the first three quarters.
"Statistics can be deceiving," said Atlanta coach Mike Smith. "Our number one goal as a defense is to limit points and were able to do that."
They will have another tough match-up this week as Jay Cutler and the Denver Broncos come to town. Cutler was 24-of-42 for a career-high 447 yards with three touchdowns last week against the Browns.
This week look for the Falcons to be able to control the game by keeping it on the ground against a week Broncos run defense. This should be able to open up the passing game for Matt Ryan. Take the Falcons at home and give the 6.5 points.
