USC Trojans At 8-1 the USC Trojans still have national title hopes on their mind. The Trojans are playing as well as any of the one loss teams in the country. Having out scored their last six opponents 231-23 since their devastating loss to Oregon State back on September 25, USC, at # 6 still needs some help to reach the ultimate goal.
Saturday the Trojans head to Stanford to take on the Cardinal in hopes to continue their dominance. They look to avoid the same let down that they suffered against Stanford a season ago when they lost 24-23 in week 6.
Odds makers are calling USC heavy favorites on the road. NCAA betting lines have the Trojans at -24 with the total sitting at 48.5.
That defeat, along with a 24-17 loss at then-No. 5 Oregon three weeks later, kept USC out of the national championship game for the second straight
"November's here, we're in the midst of it all," said Trojans coach Pete Carroll. "We're fired up the way we're playing. We have a good opportunity to finish this thing and are looking forward to the next challenge. We have a chance to be a really good team with this defense. They definitely give us a good chance to win out."
Stanford, at 5-5 will need to find a way to stop the USC rushing attack that is averaging 245.8 yards per game. The Cardinal allowed 307 rushing yards in last Saturday's 35-28 loss at Oregon and it won't get any easier against the Trojans.
The Cardinal won't be able to match up defensively with the Trojans' high power offense and the way USC's defense has been playing it won't be easy to put points on the board. On paper this one should be a laugher. Take the Trojans and give the 24 points.
