Texas Longhorns The Texas Longhorns now need help to keep their Big 12 and BCS title hopes alive. The Longhorns head to Memorial Stadium to take on conference rival Kansas. Odds makers are calling 3rd ranked Texas a double digit favorite on the road this week in Lawrence. NCAA betting lines have the Longhorns at -13.5 with the total sitting at 67.5.
A loss two weeks ago to Texas Tech knocked the Longhorns out of the no. 1 spot in the polls and the Big 12 South standings. Last week's win, though, has worked wonders in restoring Texas' confidence.
Texas quarterback Colt McCoy was 26-of-37 for 300 yards and five touchdowns in last week's 45-21 victory over Baylor. After the Bears tied the score at 14, midway through the second quarter, the Longhorns exploded for 31 consecutive points before Baylor scored a meaningless touchdown
"Getting a win back under our belt, every body's got the motivation," said linebacker Roddrick Muckelroy. "We're all high again."
Texas faces a struggling Kansas team that was ranked as high as 13th this season, but has since dropped out of the Top 25 after losing three out of their last four. However, Kansas' recent losses have come to extremely tough Big 12 opponents, only the Jayhawks 45-35 loss to Nebraska was a shocker.
The Jayhawks still have a shot at representing the shallower Big 12 North in the conference championship game. They trail division-leader Missouri by one game.
With or with the Big 12 North division in their reach, coach Mark Mangino will have his Jayhawks ready to play, especially after the let down last week against the Cornhuskers. Texas wins the game but does not cover as Kansas will keep it close at home. Take the Jayhawks getting 13.5.
