New York Jets head coach Eric Mangini has just announced at this morning's news conference that veteran cornerback Ty Law will rejoin the Jets for the rest of this season. Law recorded 10 interceptions in his only season as a New York Jet, and then headed off to Kansas City for two seasons.

"I've talked to Ty multiple times during the course of the season," Mangini said. "This was really the first opportunity we've had to get something done and we did. He's good physically in terms of his overall appearance, his weight, those things. We feel very comfortable about it."

According to Mangini, Law will practice with the team today and when asked if he expected Law to see action in Thursday night's game against the Patriots, Mangini said, "I think there's definitely a chance."

Mangini went on to say that Darrelle Revis will not be giving up his uniform No. 24 to Law. Revis grew up in the same hometown as Law; Aliquippa, Pa. Ty Law was Revis' inspiration for wearing the number in the first place. Law has worn 24 with the Patriots, Jets and Chiefs and he will wear No. 22, his number from his college days at Michigan.

ESPN had initial reports of Law's agreement to a contract on Last night on their broadcast of Monday Night Football. However, at that time the deal had not been finalized and the Jets were not commenting on any of the reports until Mangini made it official today.

The Jets released Justin Miller, their second-round pick in the 2005 draft to make room on the 53-man active roster. Miller had only been active for one game so far in 2008.
