New York Jets Sunday the St Louis Rams head to Giants Stadium to face-off with the co-AFC East leading New York Jets. Odds makers are calling the Jets a home favorite as they take on the Rams. NFL betting lines have New York at -9.5 with the total sitting at 44 points.
A week ago, the AFC East standings took a dramatic change and the Jets are now in a three-way tie for first place with New England and Buffalo.
At 5-3, the Jets have to like where they are at considering that they were only 1-7 at this point a season ago. New York has already eclipsed last season's win total after just eight games and they are finding different way of winning from week to week.
In their 26-17 victory against the Bills last week it was the defense that stepped up. They allowed Buffalo only 30 yards on the ground and
The Jets rank fourth in the league in rush defense allowing just 76 yards per game.
This will likely cause big problems for an already struggling Rams offense that will likely be without the services of their Pro Bowl running back Stephen Jackson. If Jackson can't go, the Rams are going to have a very tough time gaining yards on the ground against the stout Jets run defense. Putting the pressure on quarterback Marc Bulger to deliver through the air.
Bulger, a former Pro Bowler, definitely has the ability to pick apart the Jets secondary if he has time to throw.
Look for the Rams to have some success through the air and be able to keep it close. New York wins the game but St Louis will keep it closer than most think. Take the Rams getting the 9.5 point on the road.
