Kellen Winslow, Cleveland tight end has been suspended by his team for one game for making negative comments about the Browns organization.

Winslow spent three days at the Cleveland Clinic earlier this month with what was called an undisclosed illness. He later revealed he had a staph infection. He also complained that the team asked him to hide his illness.

The Pro Bowl tight end revealed that he considered asking to be traded after he said felt like he was being treated like a "piece of meat."

In a statement released Tuesday, Browns General Manager Phil Savage called Winslow's comments and behavior
"unwarranted, inappropriate, and unnecessarily disparaging to our organization.

"His statements brought unjustified negative attention to our organization," Savage said. "(Winslow's statements) violated the team-first concept of our football squad."

Winslow will miss Sunday's game against Jacksonville, he will not be allowed to practice or attend team meetings. He will not be permitted to return to work until Monday and it will cost him one game check.

Winslow can appeal his suspension through the NFL Players' Association. Nor Winslow or his agent Drew Rosenhaus could be immediately reached by phone or an e-mail for any comment.
