New York Giants This week's installment of Monday Night Football on ESPN features the 4-0 New York Giants heading to Cleveland to take on the 1-3 Browns. Odds makers are calling the Giants an 8 point favorite with the total set at 43.
After finishing the 2007 season at 10-6, the Browns came into the 2008 season swirling with confidence and having an enthusiasm that the city of Cleveland has not seen in years.
A quarter of the way through, Cleveland has come back down to earth. After an 0-3 start, the Browns grabbed a victory from the win-less Bengals before heading into their bye week. All is not lost as the Browns need to look no further than this week's opponent for inspiration.
The Giants started 0-2 before rattling off six wins in a row en route to
"It inspires the entire league," Browns linebacker D'Qwell Jackson said. "Everyone talks about it. The way they started and the way they finished gives everybody hope."
The unbeaten Giants are in a much better position than this point a year ago. At 4-0 they are in the driver seat of the NFC.
Quarterback Eli Manning has thrown for more than 1,000 yards and six touchdowns in just four games. Running backs Brandon Jacobs and Derrick Ward have combined for almost 600 yards and three touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball the Giants rank 2nd in points allowed with 12.25, 3rd in total yards with 236.0 and 2nd in passing yards allowed with 154.0.
On paper, this is definitely a game the Giants should win. Take New York and give the 8 points on the road.
