The 2-2 New York Jets host the 0-5 Cincinnati Bengals at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey Sunday. Odds makers are saying that the Jets are 9 1/2 point favorites at home with the total sitting at 42 1/2.

Since taking over the head coaching job in New York, Eric Mangini has the Jets undefeated after the bye week. A season ago, the Jets shocked Pittsburgh after the bye and in 2006 they beat up New England at Gillette Stadium.

The last time out the Jets exploded of offense putting up 56 points against the Arizona Cardinals. Quarterback Brett Favre was 24-of-34 for 289 yards and six touchdowns.

"It's a work in progress every day," center Nick Mangold said of Favre. "He's doing a great job and I think all of the guys in here are doing a good job of working and making sure we all know what we need to do and how to get it done."

After winning the AFC North title in 2005, the Bengals were thought to have erased a tradition of losing in Cincinnati. However
since that time the Bengals are 15-22 and have slipped back into that culture of losing.

"We've taken some lumps this year, and that doesn't change how I approach what I do," said coach Marvin Lewis. "I'm excited about our football team. I actually like our football team, other than being 0-5. I like our guys. I like what we're doing. We're working very, very hard."

Although, the Bengals have a lot of offensive talent, it's not going to get any easier this week against the Jets. Quarterback Carson Palmer will miss his second start of the year with a sore elbow. Ryan Fitzpatrick will make the start in his place. Fitzpatrick struggled two weeks ago against the Browns going 21-of-35 for 156 yards and one touchdown and three interceptions.

The Bengals still have Chad Johnson and TJ Houshmandzadeh on the outside and the Jets rank 31st in the league against the pass. Look for the Fitzpatrick to be able to move the offense in the passing game. The Jets should win the game but this one will be closer than most think. Take the Bengals getting the 9 1/2 points.
