Oklahoma Sooners
In a week where the top teams did what they had to do to maintain their ranking, the Top 25 has not changed much. The only big story this week is the emergence of Ball State. The 25th ranked Cardinals of Ball State break into the Top 25 for the first time.

"It's flattering obviously, but there's so much season left to play," sixth-year Cardinals coach Brady Hoke said in a conference call with reporters Sunday. "You have to evaluate the season at the end. We've got a lot of big games ahead of us."

After routing Baylor, the top spot still belongs to the Oklahoma. The Sooners received 51 first place votes and sit atop the ranking for the second week in a row.

Nick Saban's Alabama Crimson Tide received 13 first place votes and is secure with no. 2
spot. Alabama held off Kentucky 17-14 this week. The Tide played well enough to win, despite a late Kentucky touchdown that made it look closer than it actually was.

Missouri jumped idle LSU to move into the no. 3 spot after crushing Nebraska 52-17. Missouri is looking ahead to their October 18th match-up with the no. 5 Texas Longhorns. Before the Longhorns can think about the Tigers, Texas will have to deal with Oklahoma. The Longhorns and the Sooners face off this coming Saturday.

Rounding out the top ten, no. 6 Penn State and No. 7 Texas Tech held their spots. No. 8 USC and No. 9 BYU flip-flopped after USC's easy 44-10 victory against Oregon and Georgia moved up a spot to No. 10.
