Utes vs Beavers The Oregon State Beavers are coming off one of the greatest college football betting upsets from last week's stunning win over USC. Now 2-2, the Beavers head to Utah to take on the 15th ranked Utes. Odds makers are calling Utah an 11 point favorite with the total set at 53.
Thursday night at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, the Beavers will be looking to keep the upsets rolling. Oregon State and stand-out freshman running back Jacquizz Rodgers will have to contend with the Utes no. 5 defense against the run. Rodgers has gained 449 yards on the ground while scoring 6 touchdowns thus far in 2008.
"I think we made a statement, like we can come out and beat anybody on any given day," said Rodgers. "It's not always the
Utah is off to their best start since the Utes went 12-0 in 2004. They will be trying to stay unbeaten against a tough Oregon State team that has proven they can beat anyone.
Quarterback Brian Johnson has thrown for 1129 yards and 8 touchdowns over the first five games. A week ago Johnson was 18-of-22 for 194 yards against Weber State, before the starters were lifted by Coach Kyle Whittingham.
"We wanted to jump on them early and play efficient in the first half," said Johnson. "We did that. We got the win and now we've got a big one coming up."
Look for the Beavers to carry momentum and a lot of confidence into this one. Utah should win, but OSU will keep it close. Take Oregon State getting the 11 points.
