Trojans vs Beavers The no. 1 ranked USC Trojans head north to take on the Oregon State Beavers as they begin their PAC-10 schedule. The 2-0 Trojans have not play since their 35-3 thrashing of the Ohio State Buckeyes on September 13th. Thursday night they head into Oregon State with odds makers calling USC a 25 1/2 point favorite on the road with the total sitting at 52.
USC quarterback Mark Sanchez has thrown for 510 yards and 7 touchdowns while running back Joe McKnight has carried 18 times for 165 yards.
"He is so explosive," Sanchez said of McKnight. "When he's got time, when he's got a little space, anything can happen."
On the defensive side of the ball, USC has given up the fewest points in the nation and is allowing just 197 yards per game, second best in the country. They have recorded seven
"It has a lot of speed and size," said Beaver coach Mike Riley of the Trojan defense. "They are overwhelming and on offense they are very balanced. That's always very dangerous."
Oregon State at 1-2, won their last game 45-7 over Hawaii after opening the season with loses over Stanford and Penn State.
The Beavers will try to control the tempo with true freshman running back Jacquizz Rodgers and his sophomore brother James Rodgers. Jacquizz has rushed for 263 yards and 4 touchdowns thus far, while James has hauled in 13 catches for 159 yard and a score.
"These are two fine kids," said Riley. "They have added a lot to our program already."
While Oregon State dose have some young talent, the Trojans have much more. Take USC and give the 25 1/2. This will be a laugher.
