Texas Stadium will be rockin' tonight as the Dallas Cowboys host their division rival Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. Both teams are coming off big victories in week one. Odds makers are calling the Cowboys 7 point favorites at home with the total set at 46 1/2.
In week one the Eagles crushed the St. Louis Rams 38-3. Quarterback Donovan McNabb went 21-of-33 for 361 yards and 3 touchdowns. Running back Brian Westbrook carried 19 times for 91 yards and a touchdown. He also added one touchdown reception. The Eagles defense stymied the Rams allowing less than 200 yards total offense on the day.
In their last meeting the Eagles defense shut down Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens, limiting him to only two catches for 37 yards in the Eagles 10-6 victory in "Big D". The Eagles will have to do much of the same to be successful tonight.
The Cowboys will be looking to unleash running backs Marion Barber and Felix Jones against the Eagles run defense. Last week against the Browns, Barber rushed for 80 yards on 16 carries with 2 touchdowns while Jones carried 9 times for 62 yards and a touchdown. Dallas will need more of the same kind of production out of their runners to open up QB Tony Romo and the passing game. A week ago Romo was 24-of-32 for 320 yard and one touchdown in the Cowboys win.
This one should be close and may come down to a late field goal. Take the Eagles getting the 7 points.
