Chargers vs Broncos When the San Diego Chargers travel to Denver to take on the Broncos there will be no shortage of emotions coming out of the mile-high city in this early season AFC West match-up. Both teams promise to let their play do the talking this year. The Broncos are 1 point favorites at home with the total listed as 45 1/2.
The Broncos looked impressive against the Raiders in the season opener last week. Quarterback Jay Cutler threw for 300 yards and two touchdowns in the Broncos 41-14 victory. Rookie receiver Eddie Royal also had a great game in his NFL debut catching nine balls for 146 yards and a touchdown. The Denver rushing attack, led by Andre Hall's 61 yards on 10 carries, posted 141 yards on the ground as well.
We will see on Sunday how much of that is a good Broncos offense
One thing is for sure, this week the Broncos will be facing a much better Charger defense, even without Pro-Bowl LB Shawne Merriman. Merriman of course, will not play the remainder of the 2008 season as he has elected to have surgery on his injured knee.
The Chargers offense will be looking stay on a roll after a stunning lose to Carolina in the final seconds in week one. Even in the lose the Chargers offense looked good. Running back LaDainian Tomlinson was side-lined for part of the week in practice but will be ready to play on Sunday. Tomlinson rushed for 97 yards on 21 carries last week averaging over 4 1/2 yards per carry. QB Philip Rivers threw for 217 yards and three touchdowns in the lose.
The Chargers have something to prove in week two. Take the Chargers on the road getting one.
