Georgia Bulldogs The South Carolina Gamecocks host the no. 2 ranked Georgia Bulldogs in this early season SEC match-up. Despite not losing a game in their first two contests, Georgia has lost it's no. 1 ranking to the USC Trojans. The Bulldogs may be heading into Columbia with a bit of a chip on their shoulder. Odds makers are calling Georgia a 7 point favorite on the road.
Now that they begin their SEC schedule, Georgia is looking to regain their no. 1 ranking. "This is a different brand of athletes from what we played in the first two games," said head Georgia coach Mark Richt.
Richt went on to say that he was not trying to disrespect the teams that the Bulldogs have already played,
"There is a huge difference in the size, strength and speed of this defense compared to the first two games," said Richt.
With South Carolina losing to Vanderbilt last week and quarterback Chris Smelley throwing two interceptions. Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier confirmed that red-shirt freshman Stephen Garcia will see action this week. Smelly will make his second consecutive start at QB, but Garcia will be part of the quarterback equation on Saturday.
Even if Spurrier could pull out Danny Wuerffel to play QB this week it would not help the Gamecocks against Georgia. Take the Bulldogs and give the 7, they should win this one in a laugher.
