Week Three NFL News

The New York Jets travel across country to take on the Chargers on Monday Night Football in San Diego. Bookmakers are calling the betting odds San Diego -8 1/2 and a total of 45 point.

The Chargers are 0-2, but could easily be 2-0. San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers has been lighting up defenses throwing for 594 yards and 6 touchdowns in 2 games. Running back LaDainian Tomlinson, nursing a toe injury, returned to practice in a limited role on Friday and is listed as questionable. If Tomlinson can not go, Darren Sproles is expected to make the start.

Sunday night the Packers and the Cowboys face off in Prime time in a battle of unbeatens. Odds makers are calling the Cowboys a 3 point favorite as they come into Lambeau Field in Green Bay. The total is sitting at 50 1/2.

The Packers at 2-0 have been playing excellent football behind there new quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers has gone 42-of-60 for 506 yards and 4 touchdowns while throwing no interceptions.

"He's making good decisions and he's being accurate with the football," Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy said...

The New Orleans Saints travel to the Mile High City to take on the Broncos. Odds makers are calling Denver a 5 point favorite with the total set at 51. This one is expected to be an old fashion shootout as both offenses have looked very good thus far.

Denver's 463.5 yards per game in total offense leads the NFL. Quarterback Jay Cutler has thrown for more yards than any passer in 2008 and is tied for first with six touchdowns. After sitting out week one while serving a suspension, wide receiver Brandon Marshall...

The Colts and the Jacksonville Jaguars face-off at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis in a big AFC South match-up. The Jags are on the ropes with an 0-2 start while Peyton and the Colts are 1-1. With both teams battered by injured, odds makers are calling the Colts 4 1/2 point favorites at home with the total sitting at 41 1/2.

The Colts rallied late to beat the Vikings a week ago to avoid an 0-2 start, but they still suffered a huge lose. Pro Bowl safety Bob Sanders' sprained ankle against Minnesota will keep him out of the lineup Sunday and could keep him side-lined for up to six weeks. Even with Sanders in the lineup the Colts have struggled stopping the run...

The battle of Pennsylvania between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Philadelphia Eagles should be one of Sundays best games to watch. The Steelers make their way across the PA Turnpike as 3 1/2 point underdogs with the total set at 45.

The Eagles 1-1 looked good last week on offense but could not enough defense to come away from Dallas with a win. Running back Brain Westbrook and his five touchdowns have been stellar, while a healthy Donovan McNabb has the Eagles offense running on all cylinders...

The Chicago Bears host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Soldier Field. The Bucs come in at 1-1 and Brian Griese is expected to make his second consecutive start after coach John Gruden inserted him into the line up last Sunday. Tampa comes in to Chicago as a 3 point underdog with the total set at 35 1/2.

Chicago, also at 1-1, has quarterback issues of their own. The only thing consistent about Bears' signal callers over the last few years is inconsistency...

The Minnesota Vikings host the Carolina Panthers in the Metrodome in Minneapolis on Sunday. The Panthers come in to Minnesota a 3 point underdog with the total sitting at 37.

The Vikings are 0-2 and coach Brad Childress is growing frustrated with his offenses lack of productivity. In an attempt to light spark under the team, QB Tarvaris Jackson is out and back-up Gus Frerotte is in. Childress is hoping that, the 15-year veteran, Frerotte can steady the offense.

Prosecutors in Fulton County, Georgia have filed two counts of misdemeanor battery against Denver Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall. Police say that Marshall allegedly threw his ex-girlfriend on a bed, slapped her and damaged her apartment on March 4th.

The news coming just days after Marshall hauled in 18 catches for 166 yards and a touchdown, earning him AFC Offensive Player of the Week.

Marshall said he has been waiting for the charges to be filed for months...

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin discussed quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's sore shoulder in Tuesday's news conference, saying that his QB's nursing a mild sprain. Tomlin dismissed reports that Roethlisberger was playing with a separated right shoulder on Sunday night against the Browns. 

"I have no idea where that report came from," Tomlin said. "It did not come from me or my medical staff. The guy has a sore shoulder, just an AC sprain."

The Associated Press is reporting that Colts safety Bob Sanders could be out for up to six weeks with a high ankle sprain. Sanders, the 2007 Defensive Player of the Year, injured the ankle in the second half of Sunday's win over the Minnesota Vikings. 

Indianapolis general manager Bill Polian said that the Colts are not yet 100 percent sure of the severity of the injury, but it was safe to assume Sanders would miss 4-6 weeks. Polian also said the Pro Bowl safety could be having arthroscopic surgery on his knees while he recovers from the ankle sprain.

"He will be back, that is for sure," Polian said. Team doctors will have a clearer picture...
