On Friday Dan Reeves and his 23 years of NFL head coaching experience interviewed for the San Francisco 49ers open offensive coordinator position.

Reeves met with 49ers coach Mike Singletary and general manager Scot McCloughan at the team's facility as the team seeks to fill the gap created in their coaching staff by Mike Martz's firing in December.

With the burn of a 2008 Cowboys collapse still stinging, Dallas quarterback Tony Romo says things will be different in 2009. Romo wants desperately to win a Super Bowl and is still bothered by missing the playoffs. The Cowboys signal caller is saying that his leadership approach will be different in 2009.

"I think leadership sometimes comes with your ability to perform and your personality," Romo said in a telephone interview. "And some of it comes with experience. In a lot of ways, I think I've gotten to the point where I've gained experience."

The New York Jets officially named Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan to be their new head coach. Ryan spent ten seasons in Baltimore being promoted to defensive coordinator in 2005. He replaces fired coach Eric Mangini and takes over a team that started last season 8-3, but struggled down the stretch and failed to make the playoffs.

The Detroit Lions have announced the hiring Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz to be their next coach. According to the team's official website, Schwartz will be introduced at a news conference tomorrow in Detroit.

Schwartz just finished his eighth season as Titans defensive coordinator. He interviewed for a second time with the Lions on Monday.

Locker room chemistry is at the top of the list when NFL teams feel changes need to be made within an organization. It will be no different for the Dallas Cowboys this off-season.

In fact the Cowboys already began to trim the fat so to speak when they cut troubled defensive back Adam Jones last week, also Tank Johnson is expected to depart through free agency. Both moves are clearly the first step in creating a different atmosphere in the Cowboys locker room.

Jim Mora made a good impression as the new Seattle Seahawks head coach in his first press conference as the team's head man.

Mora paid homage to his predecessor, Mike Holmgren, saying he learned a lot observing Holmgren the last two seasons. Mora was hired as Seattle's coach-in-waiting last year and as he served as defensive backs coach, Mora soaked up as much as he could from his legendary boss.

"Over the past two years I have had other opportunities to become a head football coach," Mora said.

Scott Pioli has spent the last nine years helping to create a dynasty with the New England Patriots will be trying to duplicate his success with a new team. In a statement released by Kansas City Chiefs Chairman Clark Hunt, Pioli will be their new general manager.

"We are very excited to welcome Scott to the Chiefs," Hunt said. "With his proven track record of success, Scott is the finest player personnel executive in the NFL, and we look forward to his leadership in building a championship organization."

According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, sources say that Boston College coach Jeff Jagodzinski has been told he will be fired if he interviews for the head-coaching vacancy with the New York Jets.

Despite the threat from athletic director Gene DeFilippo, Jagodzinski does indeed plan to do the interview with the Jets on Monday, the sources said. Those sources also say that if Jagodzinski is fired, the Eagles would promote offensive coordinator Steve Logan to head coach.

NFL betting odds have the New York Giants as front runners in the race to win the Super Bowl over the 11 other teams in the NFL playoffs. Las Vegas sports books are calling the NFC's no. 1 seed 2-1 favorites to repeat as champions.

The Tennessee Titans, who had the league's best record at 13-3, are the favorite among AFC teams at 4-1.

"The Giants' playoff opponents aren't as good as the AFC playoffs teams, giving them an easier trip to the title game," says Mike Seba, a senior oddsmaker for Las Vegas Sports Consultants.

After recording an overall record of 11-25 and a second straight 0-4 start, the St. Louis Rams fired Coach Scott Linehan on Monday. The move comes one day after their 34-14 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Defensive coordinator Jim Haslett will replace Linehan as interim coach. Haslett was the coach of the New Orleans Saints until the end of the 2005 season, and joined the Rams on Linehan's first staff in 2006.
