Week Twelve NCAA News

There were no major upsets this week as all the national title contenders took care of business and the BCS standings were unchanged.

In the top spot, the Alabama beat Mississippi State 32-7 to move to 11-0. The Crimson Tide pounded out almost 200 yards on the ground against a weak Bulldogs rush defense as they rolled over Mississippi State.

After a week off, Texas Tech remained at no. 2. The Red Raiders head to Norman this coming Saturday...

At 8-1 the USC Trojans still have national title hopes on their mind. The Trojans are playing as well as any of the one loss teams in the country. Having out scored their last six opponents 231-23 since their devastating loss to Oregon State back on September 25, USC, at # 6 still needs some help to reach the ultimate goal.

Saturday the Trojans head to Stanford to take on the Cardinal in hopes to continue their dominance. They look to avoid the same let down that they suffered against...

Saturday afternoon the 10th ranked Georgia Bulldogs travel to Auburn to take on the Tigers. Odds makers are calling the Bulldogs road favorites as they get set to take on SEC rival Auburn. NCAA football betting lines have Georgia at -10 with the total sitting at 47.5.

Georgia and Auburn both figured to be challenging for a national title with pre-season top 10 ranking, but after a season full of disappointment, they both failed to meet expectations.

The Northern Illinois Huskies host the Central Michigan Chippewas on Wednesday night Mid-American Conference action. Odds makers are calling the Huskies a slight home favorite. College football betting lines have Northern Illinois at -4 with the total set at 49.5.

The Huskies come into this game at 5-4 as they had their three game winning streak snapped last week with a loss to Ball State 45-14. QB Chandler Harnish was 14-of-22 for 115 yards and 1 INT and the defense gave up a season-high point total.

"There's no question that of the teams we've played this year that Ball State is the best football team we've played," said Huskies coach Jerry Kill.

Thursday night the Miami Hurricanes host their ACC rival the Virginia Tech Hokies in primetime. Odds makers are call the Canes a favorite at home against the Hokies. College football betting lines have Miami at -5 with the total sitting at 43.5.

This ACC match-up is another big game on Thursday night. The Hokies travel down south to take on the Hurricanes in a game that puts one of these teams in the lead in the Coastal division, as Virginia Tech, Miami and North Carolina are locked up for first.
