Week Seven NCAA News

For the second weekend this year, the NCAA has seen three teams in the top five lose.

With Missouri and LSU losing along with the Texas Longhorns 45-35 win in the Red River Rivalry against Oklahoma, the Longhorns moved right past No. 2 Alabama (idle) to sit atop the Top 25 poll. Texas received 39 first-place votes and 1,599 points from the media panel. Alabama received the other 36 first-place votes and 1,582 points.

Saturday night the 6th ranked Penn State Nittany Lions head to Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin to take on the Badgers. Odds makers currently have the Lions as a 6 point favorite versus the Badgers.

Penn State will bring in the Big-10's most explosive offense to face a Wisconsin team that is desperately trying to avoid an 0-3 start in conference play.

Nittany Lions coach Joe Paterno will attempt to be on the side-line this week after spending last week in the press box recovering from a sore right hip he suffered in practice a few weeks ago.

Two of the nation's most dynamic offenses will be on display on Saturday night in Columbia, where the 3rd-ranked Missouri Tigers host the 17th-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys. Odds makers are calling the Tigers a 14 point favorite at home.

Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel was a Heisman Trophy runner-up a season ago. Chase finished fifth in the country in passing yards and lead Missouri to a 12-2 record and a No. 4 finish in the Top 25 poll. This season Chase has completed more than 75 percent of his passes and has thrown for 15 touchdowns.

This week's installment of the SEC game of the week features the no. 4 ranked LSU Tigers heading to Gainesville to take on the no. 11 ranked Florida Gators. It is the first time in 18 years that the National Champions from the previous two years have met in a regular season game. Betting odds makers say that the Gators are 6 point favorites in the Swamp.

Even with LSU winning two of the last three meetings in Gainesville, Tigers coach Les Miles will not be taking this one lightly.

"If you find any weaknesses, tell me," Miles said.

The 20th ranked Auburn Tigers host the Arkansas Razorbacks at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday as they try to get their offense together. Odds makers are calling the Tigers a 16 1/2 point favorite with the total sitting at 41.

After posting just 82 total yards in the final three quarters of last week's loss the Vanderbilt, Auburn will be trying to find a way to put up some points...

The 2-2 Louisville Cardinals head to Memphis to take on the 3-3 Tigers this Friday night on ESPN in a college football non-conference battle between the Big East and Conference USA. Odds makers are calling the Cardinals a 7 point favorite for the contest.

After starting the season with three straight losses, Memphis beat UAB a week ago to secure its third straight win to get back .500 for the season. The Tigers drove 72 yards on nine plays to put place kicker Vinny Zaccario in field goal range and he delivered with a 25-yard kick to seal the victory...

The 3-2 Clemson Tigers travel to North Carolina on Thursday night to take on the 3-1 Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Odds makers are calling Wake a 2 1/2 point favorite.

At the start of the season this game was expected to be huge in the chase for the ACC Atlantic Division title. Although it may still prove to be, both teams are now coming off defeats. The no. 21 ranked Demon Deacons and the disappointing Tigers both look to bounce back from tough losses as they resume their quests for the division championship.

Clemson, ranked no. 9 in the preseason, got blown out 34-10 in its season opener against Alabama.

The no. 1 ranked Oklahoma Sooners and the no. 5 ranked Texas Longhorns head into their annual Big 12 match-up with both teams in the top 5 for the first time since 2004. Both teams will be looking to remain unbeaten with their sight set on a National Championship. Odds makers are calling the Sooners preliminary favorite as they head into Saturday.

Texas and Oklahoma were ranked 19th and 10th respectively a year ago and the Sooners came away with a 28-20 victory...

Week 7 in college football gets underway Tuesday night with the Troy Trojans taking on the Florida Atlantic Owls in Sun Belt Conference play. Odds makers are calling Florida Atlantic 4 point home underdog.

The defending Sun Belt Conference champions, Owls were beaten last week by Middle Tennessee State on a last second Hail Mary to lose by one point. The Owls are hoping for better luck when they host another Sun Belt Conference contender this week.
