Week One NCAA News

On Monday, Labor Day the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers host the Fresno State Bulldogs in the season opener at Rutgers Stadium in Piscataway, NJ. The Scarlet Knights are a 4 point favorite in their first game in the post Ray Rice era. In a game in which should see plenty of scoring, odds makers are calling the over 58.

After a disappointing 2006, Fresno State bounced back in 2007.

Colorado and Colorado State open their 2008 campaign in Invesco Field in Denver Sunday night at 7:45PM ET on FSN. The Buffaloes have won five of the last six meeting and are 12 point favorites going into tonight's game. The over on the game is at 56.

Rams Senior QB Billy Farris will be making his first start since high school. Farris will be looking for senior tight end Kory Sperry to spark the offense.

Closing out the first Saturday of the NCAA Football season we have a interesting match up out west with the #21 ranked Oregon Ducks hosting the Washington Huskies in the night cap. Washington travels to Autzen Stadium as a 13 1/2 point underdog on the road. The over for the 10PM EDT start time game is sitting at 62.

Tyrone Willingham's 2008 Huskies are probably to youngest and most inexperienced team he has ever put on the field. Washington will be counting on sophomore QB Jake Locker, last years PAC 10 freshmen of the year, as well as true freshmen starting tailback, Chris Polk to lead the offense.

The NCAA Football season is underway as the USC Trojans travel to Charlottesville to take on the Virginia Cavaliers. The Trojans are 19 1/2 point favorites on the road, the over sits at 42 1/2.

USC begins the 2008 season with something to prove after not making the National Championship Game last season. The Trojans had their sixth straight 11 win season in 2007 and felt they should have had an opportunity to play for the National Championship.

USC must replace 10 starters lost to the NFL from last year.

The 2008 NCAA Football season is now underway. Week one is beginning on Thursday night and extending through Monday. What a great way to kick-off the season. There are definitely some interesting match-ups for this Labor-Day weekend.

Clemson-Alabama - Let's start with this intriguing match-up in the Georgia Dome. Clemson comes in with a preseason # 9 ranking and is a 4 1/2 point favorite.

The North Carolina State Wolfpack opens their season in Columbia against former ACC rival, the South Carolina Gamecocks. Steve Spurrier's Gamecocks are under a lot of pressure to produce this season after last years collapse. Tom O'Brien's Wolfpack head into 2008 with much uncertainty, as they have Red-shirt Freshmen QB Russell Wilson leading the offense. 

Odds makers are calling South Carolina a 14 point favorite at home against the Wolfpack, with the over sitting at 45.

South Carolina started strong in 2007, collecting 6 wins in their first 7 games.

The NCAA Football season is beginning and Thursday night the Oregon State Beavers travel to Stanford to take on the Cardinal. Oregon State is the only BCS conference school to open the season with consecutive road games, next week the Beavers travel to Penn State to take on the 22nd ranked Nittany Lions.

Even with Oregon State on the road, the Beavers come into Stanford as 3 point favorites. The over on the game is 45 1/2.
